Liz sketch 1 US sketch 43

Hello everyone, it’s Saturday and time for another Unscripted Sketches Sketch it Saturday. I flipped this weeks sketch and had fun with it. I turned that one stripe into a pierced line :0) and the circle into an oval. That’s what we want you to do with Unscripted Sketches too…take it and run!. This weeks challenge also comes with a piggyback challenge if you want..a color combosketch43 color challenge

I chose to go without the color combo but some of our talented designers took on the challenge! Hope you head on over to the Unscripted site and try this challenge too!

This will be a prayer journal for me and I was elated to find a stamp with the beginning of my absolute favorite Psalm #23. I can tell you I have repeated this one more than any other.  I used some Basic Grey papers, some Nesties dies, CTMH cardstock, ink, and ribbon. The journal is from CTMH and comes with a wonderful clear sleeve to slide your design into and keep it safe.  Hope you like it!

I am used to reading this Psalm in the Old King James Bible…and the words just stir my soul…I do not often talk about these things on my blog…so if you are here for the art then thanks for visiting….

Otherwise..here is a story for you…..

I came to know Christ last Summer. Shortly afterwards my husband lost his job….after much prayer and support and a new job was found that was more fulfilling for him than the first.  The words I turned to in the bible in this uncertain time for my family were the words of Psalm 23. My mom gave me a very old bible a few years ago that belonged to a treasured Aunt (complete with all the little treasures she had hidden away in it)….and what page did she have dog eared and marked with a special bookmark…but that very same Psalm. Here they are in the Old King James style…so beautiful…

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table for me in the presence of my enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

I am sorry but those words just sing to my soul…especially in the old English…..which my writer has determined are all misspelled!

Hopefully you are still with me…It is a part of who I now am and I have shared  with you my friends.

Enjoy!

Absolutely gorgeous, Sarah! Wow! The colors are so soothing, perfect for a prayer book.

While I am not particularly religious, I truly appreciate those who are and I respect their beliefs. I thank you for sharing this very special part of you! I'm so glad you have found such comfort in your treasured bible.

Have a glorious day!

This journal is absolutely STUNNING Sarah!!!

I am completely for Religious Freedom. I'm glad that you found a religion that helps you thru, I found religion when my grandmother died almost ten years ago.

It must be nice to be able to publicly post those things that you believe. I cannot, it scares most people away. There's a huge stigma attached to it, and most people either treat me differently when they find out, or walk away :(

Anyway.... your journal is amazing. Gorgeous!!! Stunning, beautiful... I could go on and on! lol

Beautiful journal, Sarah! The colors and papers you chose are perfect for the Psalm, which, by the way, will continue to bring you comfort and strength throughout your lifetime.

I memorized the 23rd and many other Psalms as a child and have found through the years that when I need them, the words are right there for me.

Back to your journal. I received two of these in an order yesterday - ordered in error... Anyway, I removed the plastic sleeve from one and now that I see your beautiful book, am kinda sorry. Guess I'll have to make two versions!

Enjoy the weekend, friend!

Very pretty, Sarah! Nice soft colors. My husnabd has been out of a job for over a year now. That is why we are moving close to family.

Your journal is just beautiful, Sarah! Your paper choice is absolutely gorgeous, the crochet trim, ribbons, scallops, flower, and butterfly are all wonderful details. And if that scripture weren't enough, the colors themselves are so soothing. Beautiful job with the sketch!

The 23rd Psalm is a favorite of so many people, including one of my grandmothers --it's so comforting and an awesome reminder the Lord is with us in any circumstance. I hope you seriously don't ever feel you need to apologize for sharing anything, including your faith...on YOUR blog. No offense intended, but if people get upset by it, you shouldn't miss them if they don't return.

The Lord is good and I hope he continues to bless you.

I am gonna have to try a sketch challenge one day soon. Maybe next week I will be brave?-;)

Sarah, you did beautiful work on your prayer journal.
You know what I love about you - your Christianity shows, not only shows, it shouts loud and clear in everything you say and do. I don't talk about my love for the Lord a lot, but I hope that it is evident as yours is.

Psalm 23 is just inspiring! I'm cuban (Cuba is a socialist and non religious country) and I don't know much about Bible or Christ, but I'm starting to think a lot in this. So, I want to thank you for let me know this beautiful Psalm. I found it already in my Bible and had to read it more than once... It's inspiring!
