Unscripted Sketches #44

Liz sketch 2 US sketch 44

The last Saturday in February..can you believe it! Well here is this weeks Sketch from Unscripted. I struggled with this one because of that offset piece…it took me SO long to come up with this card. My eyes have to have balance and this just would NOT work for me..that is until I added those big brads down the side…then my eye was appeased . The top layer is stamped and a little bling added…and though you can’t see it that well I sewed around the DP. All product except the wired organdy ribbon and the 3 brads is CTMH.

So fun to see what everyone comes up with for these sketches each week. Hope you join us this week and play along.

Enjoy

I found this cute little bunny stamp at my LSS and played a bit. His face is just SOOO cute, he looks like he is thinking…”please don’t take my egg”.

Here is a simple masculine card I made

I have had these on my camera for a while but hadn’t got around to posting them…I am home sick today so I thought I would share. I think I have caught Amy’s bug and am feeling pretty lousy.

A Mojo Card..

Mojo127RoundorSquare

Well I went square for Mojo Monday. I LOVE circle cards but they don’t love me. I got this large wooden stamp from a dear friend, stamped it 5 times in Versamark, ink and embossed the 5 images in CTMH silver pearl EP. Then I went at the images with my scissors. Some foam tape and Crystal Stickles later I had my central image. I paired that with CTMH Perfect Day papers and CTMH CS, ribbon, ink and sentiment and it was finished.

I LOVE simple cards….but that said, I do like to push myself and try my hand at those beautifully elegant cards that others make seem effortless.  :0)

Took my DD Amy to the Dr’s today as this thing is lingering and she just can’t seem to shake it. They told me it wasn’t strep (duh I KNEW that) and that it would run it’s course…sigh.

I hope you are all staying well and warm! Thanks so much for the visits and the comments….

Enjoy!

It’s a Beautiful Day……

I received this little DARLING set from the new CTMH catty…It’s called Embrace Life. I just LOVE this butterfly in the set…and the wonderful sentiment. For this card I stamped the butterfly and colored with Copics and ran my craft knife almost all the way round the wings so I could lift them up. I placed this on a black 5x5 card base. Simple and cute…I really loved the rainbow effect.

Hope you are all having a terrific Tuesday..kiddos are slowly improving here and the snow has stopped for now….always a plus. Hopefully two of my friends can come over and craft with me today so I will get going.

Enjoy!

ETA.... At Kim's urging I will enter this in the Practical Scrappers challenge this week to use stamps...Thanks Kim!

Just a simple but sweet set of cardlets I made the other day using CTMH Smiles set.  All product is CTMH, cards are 4x4 in size. I have been inspired but the awesomely simple yet STUNNING cards I see on Kelley Eubanks blog..wow. You guys know I favor simple cards and Kelley’s are the best…!

Well short and sweet post today as I have a sick kiddo with me…she has been doing MUCH better this winter since she had her tonsils and adenoids out and ear tubes put in …and being out of school helps…but she came down with a sore throat anyways. Last year we were on antibiotics every other week for the entire winter so we have made a massive improvement.

Thanks for the love and comments on my last post!!! I just love you guys!

Enjoy!

Unscripted Sketches #43

Liz sketch 1 US sketch 43

Hello everyone, it’s Saturday and time for another Unscripted Sketches Sketch it Saturday. I flipped this weeks sketch and had fun with it. I turned that one stripe into a pierced line :0) and the circle into an oval. That’s what we want you to do with Unscripted Sketches too…take it and run!. This weeks challenge also comes with a piggyback challenge if you want..a color combosketch43 color challenge

I chose to go without the color combo but some of our talented designers took on the challenge! Hope you head on over to the Unscripted site and try this challenge too!

This will be a prayer journal for me and I was elated to find a stamp with the beginning of my absolute favorite Psalm #23. I can tell you I have repeated this one more than any other.  I used some Basic Grey papers, some Nesties dies, CTMH cardstock, ink, and ribbon. The journal is from CTMH and comes with a wonderful clear sleeve to slide your design into and keep it safe.  Hope you like it!

I am used to reading this Psalm in the Old King James Bible…and the words just stir my soul…I do not often talk about these things on my blog…so if you are here for the art then thanks for visiting….

Otherwise..here is a story for you…..

I came to know Christ last Summer. Shortly afterwards my husband lost his job….after much prayer and support and a new job was found that was more fulfilling for him than the first.  The words I turned to in the bible in this uncertain time for my family were the words of Psalm 23. My mom gave me a very old bible a few years ago that belonged to a treasured Aunt (complete with all the little treasures she had hidden away in it)….and what page did she have dog eared and marked with a special bookmark…but that very same Psalm. Here they are in the Old King James style…so beautiful…

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table for me in the presence of my enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

I am sorry but those words just sing to my soul…especially in the old English…..which my writer has determined are all misspelled!

Hopefully you are still with me…It is a part of who I now am and I have shared  with you my friends.

Enjoy!

Thank You…So Much

I cannot tell you how much I love these clear stamp images from Inkadinkado…Gorgeous!!!. I touched up this butterfly with some glitter from my Sakura glitter pen and some white with the Gelly roll pen… IRL it glitters.  The patterned paper is Basic Grey and  and ribbon and sentiment CTMH. Ink is Versafine black. I used a template to add the piercing around the image and some foam tape to pop up the butterfly/fairy image.

This card is for you…my followers and regular readers and commenters…I have been at this nearly a year now and I would not have imagined close to 20,000 hits and over 100 followers!!! Thank You!

It takes me about 1-2 hours every day to look at and comment on everyone’s blogs..!!!! I have realized that I just cannot do this every day. So I have decided look every day on reader and to comment every 2-3 days instead. I really hope you understand bear with me. I am so grateful for the friends I have made this last year…people who have touched my life that I would never have known if it were not for the internet, blogging, and sharing of art.

Thank You So Much my friends…we have been through a lot …..

Enjoy!

ssd012-

Welcome to Skipping Stones Design’s Blog Hop(e) for Haiti. If you just happened upon my blog today, you’ll want to go back to the beginning at Skipping Stones Design. You should have come from Christi’s blog.

As a company, we wanted to do something to give back to the people who have been so devastated by the Haitian Earthquake. So we thought what better way than to invite some of our favorite stampers to join us in this cause. Each card you see on the blog hop today will be auctioned on E-bay with all proceeds going to the Red Cross in support of the Haitian Relief Effort (please check the Skipping Stones Design Website for the link to the auction). 100% of the proceeds of the Ebay auction and $2.00 from every stamp set purchased from February 16 - 22 will be donated to the Red Cross. We know that we can make a difference.

Thank you for stopping by and your next blog to hop to is Sharon’s blog.

I used the Dandelion Dreams SS for this card and I have to say the stamps hold ink VERY well. It is a beautiful set that I will reach for again and again. Thanks Erin for inviting me to be a part of this hop…What a great idea.

How about a prize? In addition to the fabulous eye candy, we have decided to hide a prize somewhere along the hop! There will be a few pre-release sets up for grabs hidden along the blog hop. The fun part is...we're not telling you who it is! So as you hop, make sure you leave comments on every post so you have a chance to win!!

If there is a break somewhere along the way, there will be a master list at:

Skipping Stones Design or at Sparkle and Bling

Have a great day…

Enjoy!

Baby Card….

DSC_0007

DSC_0006

DSC_0003

I have a friend who is expecting a new baby son any day now..and this card is for her. I used the sketch from Card Patterns a week ago but never got this posted in time. The giraffe and rabbit were both stamped in bamboo ink and then I painted the images with watercolor crayons and a paint brush!!! Very fun and relaxing. I think all the supplies are CTMH.

I did make another card using the current CP sketch but I am not going to post it as it was a bit of a flub. I showed it to my youngest DD and she said “oh……it’s um OK” I told her it was OK not to like it, as I didn’t, and she replies “oh phew..no, I don’t like it but I didn’t want to hurt your feelings.” :0)

I want to say thanks for all the uplifting comments you guys left me. They were good for me to hear. It doesn’t help that it snowed all day Sunday and has snowed all day today…now the wind is picking up and it’s pretty nasty out. My hubby was supposed to fly out today to ND but the flights to MN were delayed and then cancelled…so here he sits LOL!

I did manage to make one card I was happy with..and I will post it soon yay!!

Take care.

Enjoy!
