Simple Birthday Cards…

DSC_0039

These are such pretty but busy stamps I decided to keep them simple and clean. The first one I colored with Copics the second one with Sakura Stardust pens, so it is very glittery. The sun was shining so I decided to not use my lightbox to take the pics. I think it was actually too bright…because I am not happy with them…too much contrast even though I edited them. Anyways kept them simple , hope you like :0) The SS is piece of Cake from CTMH.

The snow is melting so we went to the lake and threw bread to the seagulls that have arrived. I am used to seagulls being very forward and taking the food right from your hands…but these guys were skittish…but it was fun!! If I close my eyes and listen to them I almost feel I am back home on the Island at the beach, instead of landlocked in Iowa.

Skipping Stones Blog Hop- Hop(e) for Haiti

DSC_0001

ssd012-

Welcome to Skipping Stones Design’s Blog Hop(e) for Haiti. If you just happened upon my blog today, you’ll want to go back to the beginning at Skipping Stones Design. You should have come from Christi’s blog.

As a company, we wanted to do something to give back to the people who have been so devastated by the Haitian Earthquake. So we thought what better way than to invite some of our favorite stampers to join us in this cause. Each card you see on the blog hop today will be auctioned on E-bay with all proceeds going to the Red Cross in support of the Haitian Relief Effort (please check the Skipping Stones Design Website for the link to the auction). 100% of the proceeds of the Ebay auction and $2.00 from every stamp set purchased from February 16 - 22 will be donated to the Red Cross. We know that we can make a difference.

Thank you for stopping by and your next blog to hop to is Sharon’s blog.

I used the Dandelion Dreams SS for this card and I have to say the stamps hold ink VERY well. It is a beautiful set that I will reach for again and again. Thanks Erin for inviting me to be a part of this hop…What a great idea.

How about a prize? In addition to the fabulous eye candy, we have decided to hide a prize somewhere along the hop! There will be a few pre-release sets up for grabs hidden along the blog hop. The fun part is...we're not telling you who it is! So as you hop, make sure you leave comments on every post so you have a chance to win!!

If there is a break somewhere along the way, there will be a master list at:

Skipping Stones Design or at Sparkle and Bling

Have a great day…

Enjoy!

I have met some amazing people since I started blogging, one of whom is the EXTREMELY talented Christi Milliken (you can see her amazing cards on her blog, Blessings on Paper). Well Christi is turning 50 today and her Mom contacted a bunch of bloggers who she knew and asked us if we would be interested in sending Christi a birthday card and a little something containing 50 goodies wrapped in black. Well of course I jumped at the chance to surprise such a wonderful person. Then we decided to do a blog hop linking all the people who were participating as an extra surprise. Until Christi sits down at her computer today she will have no idea about this!!!

SURPRISE !!

This is the card and little tin I sent her. The tin is filled with 50 buttons (makes for a noisy package LOL!).

SOOO if you have come here from Mary’s Blog then you are on the right track and now you can hop on to Susan’s blog..if you want to start at the beginning here is the complete list.

Birthday Card….

DSC_0007

So Cath over at Moxie Fab World challenged us to finish the inside of a card…so that the design on the front is carried through some how into the inside. While I wish I could come up with something like the cards she shows on her blog…I am glad for the challenge as I am terrible about finishing the inside. Just Us Girls has a color challenge this week….gray, blush, vanilla, and burgundy..gorgeous combo! So here is what I came up with .  The cardstock, inks, tree stamp, and Happy Birthday sentiment are all CTMH. I used flower punches for all those flowers and pink and cream colored pearls. The outside sentiment is PTI.   The colors washed out some while photo editing, but even with my lightbox the card was looking dark.

I want to thank each and everyone of you who told me I had a beautiful daughter (previous post)….I showed her all the comments that said this (all of them), and she was soooo flattered, it was so cute to see her face light up. She got her braces on the other day, so right now she doesn’t feel that good about herself. What an ego boost for her!

Thanks for stopping by..hope you are all ready for a new week.

Enjoy!

50th Birthday Card

DSC_0013

DSC_0014

I found this neat tutorial on SCS for a recessed window card, or shadow box style card…and gave it a go.  This card is for a dear friend of ours who turns 50 on Friday…He and his family are about the most wonderful people you could meet.  I really love this style of card, next time I make one I will make the window deeper I think.  The supplies are all CTMH except the number stickers. I used the Game On paper pack. Sentiment stamps are CTMH as is that birthday cake. I originally had the whole cake black..but the number 50 didn’t show up well…so I restamped the center of the cake in bamboo and added it. There is some faux stitching around the outside. Here is a link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdFpXaor-ts&feature=related

Well, have a wonderful evening and as always..enjoy!

Unscripted Sketches # 34 and Amy’s Challenge extended until Sunday!

SK sketch 7 US sketch 34

Helloooo Saturday…and hello another Unscripted Sketch for you to try. This sketch had me stumped for the longest time I have to admit. I needed a birthday card for Mere so I went from there. You can see I used my favorite blue/ white combo again and the new (to me) Damask Tile SS from CTMH. I also used the Gracious Greetings SS. I got those cool blue ‘thingys’ from Walmart  and finished it off with some pearls at the bottom. Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with for all those dots in the sketch!!!Hope you liked it Mere!! (actually I hope you got it LOL)

I forgot I will be gone all Saturday for a Girl Scout Service project day, so Amy’s Sketch Challenge will have to be extended to Sunday.

Have a great day

Enjoy!

Unscripted Sketch #33

SK sketch 1 US sketch 33

Well it is Saturday and that means it is time for Unscripted Sketch # 33 woohooo. This one was a toughie for me…as you can see I flipped it. I am thinking I should have gone for a LO instead. My DS chose the colors  as this was his birthday card. All supplies are CTMH except the gold wire.  No supply list today as I am being lazy hee hee. Be the first to upload a card and grab an Unscripted Blinkie…or be our random winner each week and grab a winners blinkie :0) Run on over and check out the rest of the DT’s work…!

So did you all survive Thanksgiving and Black Friday? Did you venture out and grab some deals? I wandered out about 2 pm and grabbed up some fleece at Joann’s for $2.99 a yard. That was the busiest store I went to… Hobby Lobby wasn’t bad and Walmart was quiet. I was told Toys R Us was mayhem at 2am….that they were directing traffic around the parking lot is was so busy…crazy!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Enjoy!
